Description
Course Description
This five-hour course (including a one-hour lunch break) offers focused instruction on the necessary methods for calculating and verifying income, as well as determining the value of assets and income generated by those assets. The first part of the course features an in-depth discussion of employment income, military pay, pensions/social security, self-employment income, and child support. It ends with workshop problems designed to assess what the participant has learned and to reinforce Program-required techniques for income determination. The second part focuses on detailed requirements for determining asset value and income, applicable to all federal housing programs, including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, tax-exempt bonds, Section 8, Section 515, HOME, and Public Housing. Multiple types of assets are covered, including what counts as an asset and how to verify them. This section also concludes with problems to test the student’s understanding of the core requirements related to assets.
